If you ask me would I rather have an 1864-S half eagle in nice VF than a Gem High Relief, I’d pick the former. You’ll notice that this list is full of big, popular coins and it tends to omit specialized coins. Iconic Gold Coins aren’t cheap and if you have a $2,500 budget, you can still buy some really neat coins but none which I’d term “iconic.”
